住夾山，師在公安天寧受請，拈帖示眾云：「百草頭上薦取，爭如箇裏承當，既然符到奉行，豈可當爐避火？若也見得，坐斷一切人舌頭；苟或未然，却請維那剖露。」

Taking up residence at Jiashan, the master received the invitation at Tianning in Gong'an. Holding up the letter of invitation, he showed it to the assembly, saying, "Grasping it on the tips of the hundred grasses—how can that compare to undertaking it right here? Since the mandate has arrived to be carried out, how could one facing the furnace avoid the fire? If you can see it, you cut off the tongues of all people. If not yet so, then let the karmadāna expound it."
