上堂云：「欝蒸無處避，覿體通同；薰風自南來，披襟獨得。眾熱不到，眾苦無餘，須知佛祖閫域之中，有轉物回天之用，是故雪竇道：『茫茫普熱紛紛下雪，倒流四河載發枯枿。』且道：正當恁麼時如何？蟬聲時到耳，雁影忽迎眸。」

Ascending the hall, he said: “Nowhere to escape the sweltering heat, identity fully revealed; the balmy breeze comes from the south, unbuttoning one’s collar to enjoy it alone. Where myriad heats do not reach, myriad sufferings leave no trace. You must know that within the threshold of the Buddhas and Patriarchs, there is the function of shifting things and turning heaven around. Therefore Xuedou said: ‘Vast, widespread heat; flakes of snow fluttering down; reversing the flow of the four rivers, bringing forth shoots from withered stumps again.’ But tell me, when it is just such a time, what about it? Cicada cries reach the ears from time to time; shadows of wild geese suddenly greet the eyes.”
