上堂云：「有句無句超宗越格，如藤倚樹銀山鐵壁，及至樹倒藤枯，多少人失却鼻孔，直饒收拾得來，已是千里萬里。只如未有與麼消息時，還透得麼？風暖鳥聲碎，日高華影重。」

Ascending the hall, he said: "Having phrases or without phrases, transcending lineages and going beyond molds—like vines clinging to a tree, like silver mountains and iron walls. But when the tree falls and the vines wither, how many people lose their nostrils! Even if you are able to gather them together, you are already thousands and myriads of miles away. Just when there is no such news, can you still penetrate through? The wind is warm, bird songs are scattered; the sun is high, flower shadows are dense."
