Pointing to the abbot's quarters, [the Master] said: "For patch-robed monks, even demon palaces and tigers' dens are dwelling places of peace, let alone a place for benefiting beings and engaging with people. Do you recognize this room? All the devas protect it; all the sages bear witness to it; a kalyāṇamitra dwells upright within it, untying knots and removing bonds for others. Since there are such excellent marks, how will this mountain monk make use of it? If one does not enter the startling waves, it is hard to find the fish of one's liking. What is the phrase for entering the gate? / Waters return to the vast sea, and the surging waves grow still; / Clouds reach Mount Cangwu, and the atmosphere becomes leisurely." Then he entered the abbot's quarters.
