Among newly arriving patch-robed monks, there are those with past roots who apply effort and suddenly gain entry; yet without meeting a true ancestral master, they are instead led into wordy entanglements, falling into dynamic realms, binding themselves without ropes, half-advanced and falling behind, seeming right yet being wrong—most difficult to put in order. One must recognize the pulse of their disease, discern where they land, examine what they are biased toward and arouse them, enabling them to abandon clinging and stagnant dwelling; only then may one reveal to them the fundamental correct lineage, leaving them without doubt, clearly attaining great liberation and residing in the great jewel mansion. Naturally, even if driven away, they will not leave; they can vastly benefit the Great Dharma, continue the ancestral lamp, and be capable of repaying the debt of gratitude that cannot be repaid.
