[The Master] cited: "Muzhou ascended the seat and said, 'Head monk?' The answer came, 'Present.' 'Abbot?' The answer came, 'Present.' 'Rectified overseer?' The answer came, 'Present.' Muzhou said, 'The three sections are not the same; today applies to the first. What follows is lengthy; it is entrusted to tomorrow.'"
The Master said, "Equally passing through by borrowing the road, within it there is an extraordinary wonder. Were it Chongning, it would be otherwise: 'Head monk? Present. Abbot? Present. Rectified overseer? Present.' While walking along, one might as well swing one's arms; beating the grass is only to startle the snake. If one can turn around at a single nudge, it saves spreading earth and scattering sand."
