Thanking the karmadāna and the director of duties, he ascended the hall and said, "Smelting gold and carving jade requires relying on an adept's pincers and hammer; bearing the teaching and upholding the lineage must depend on fundamental brothers. Interlocking like elbows and arms, mutually serving as host and guest, one can then reveal the great potential and manifest the great function, spread clouds of compassion and sprinkle sweet dew, steer the raft of compassion and observe the broken shore, transcend birth and death and go beyond nirvāṇa, causing patched-robed monks throughout the world to emit light from the crown of their heads, to be distinct and untrammeled under their heels, each like a dragon and like a tiger, everyone with jade turning and pearls revolving. Not only upholding the monastic grove, it also circulates the upright eye. Is this not an extraordinary affair? I dare ask the great assembly: how do you speak the extraordinary phrase? A marvelous dance still needs praise at every beat; / The Santai tune requires everyone's accompaniment to hurry it on."
