Ascending the hall, [the master] said, "Satiated with gruel, satiated with rice, full of firewood, full of water. The price of rice in Luling is high; the wheat in front of the mountain is ripe. Traveling through all the world-seas of heaven and earth, altogether it is just oneself. Squeeze it into the space of eyebrows and eyelashes, and directly it emits light and shakes the earth. It is not Tathāgata Chan, nor is it the primary meaning; why speak further of a patched-robed monk's nostrils? How does that compare to letting go of your hands over the cliff? Cast aside medicinal restrictions, and for now sing a lala-lili! Examine!"
