上堂：「徑山無寸土莊田，今夏隨宜結眾緣，慵論道，嬾談禪，拄杖挑來箇箇圓，不用息心除妄想，大家喫飯了噇眠。噇眠則不無，或若夢中有人索飯錢又作麼生？依稀似曲纔堪聽，又被風吹別調中。」

Ascending the hall: "Jingshan has not an inch of land or estate; this summer we form ties with the assembly as circumstances allow. Indolent in discussing the Way, lazy in talking of Chan, the staff carries them, each one complete and round. No need to quiet the mind or eliminate delusive thoughts; everyone, after eating, gorges and sleeps. Gorging and sleeping are certainly there, but what if in a dream someone demands money for the meal? 'Faintly resembling a tune, it can barely be heard, / But it is blown by the wind into another melody.'"
