陳牓眼至，上堂，舉：「教中道：『吾不見時，何不見吾不見之處？若見不見，自然非彼不見之相。若不見吾不見之地，自然非物，云何非汝？』白雲師翁頌云：『堂前露柱久懷胎，長下孩兒頗俊哉，未解語言先作賦，一操便取狀元來。』」師云：「敢問諸人還知師翁落處麼？若知落處便識得狀元；若也未知，徑山為爾指出。有利無利，不離行市，放過一著，落在第二。」

Second-Rank Graduate Chen arrived. Ascending the hall, he cited: "In the scriptures it says: 'When I do not see, why do you not see the place where I do not see? If you see my not seeing, it is naturally not that mark of not seeing. If you do not see the place of my not seeing, it is naturally not an object; how is it not you?' Grandfather Master Baiyun said in verse: / 'The open pillar before the hall has long been pregnant; / the child brought forth is remarkably handsome. / Before understanding speech, he first composes rhapsodies; / with a single sweep of the brush, he takes first place in the examinations.'" The Master said, "I venture to ask all of you: do you know Grandfather Master's landing place? If you know the landing place, you will recognize the first-place graduate; if you do not yet know, Jingshan will point it out for you: / Profit or no profit, do not leave the marketplace; / letting a single move pass by, one falls into second place."
