歲旦上堂：「去年今日也只是這箇，前年今日也只是這箇，先前年今日也只是這箇，外前年今日也只是這箇；明年今日也只是這箇，後年今日也只是這箇，外後年今日也只是這箇，更外後年今日也只是這箇。且道這箇是甚麼？元正啟祚，萬物咸新，應時納祐，慶無不宜。」喝一喝云：「俗氣不除。」

Ascending the high seat on New Year's Day: "Today last year was also just this; today the year before last was also just this; today the year before that was also just this; today the year before that was also just this. Today next year will also be just this; today the year after next will also be just this; today the year after that will also be just this; today the year after that will also be just this. Tell me, what is this? The prime month begins good fortune; the myriad things are all renewed. In accordance with the season, receiving blessings; in celebration, nothing is unfitting."
