2.44

上堂：「金佛不度鑪，木佛不度火，泥佛不度水，真佛屋裏坐。趙州和尚吐心吐膽，恁麼告報了也，還有知恩報恩者麼？」便下座。

Ascending the hall, [the Master said]: "'A golden buddha cannot pass through a furnace; a wooden buddha cannot pass through fire; a clay buddha cannot pass through water; the true buddha sits within the house.' Venerable Zhaozhou poured out his heart and guts to inform you like this. Is there anyone who recognizes the kindness and repays the kindness?" He then stepped down from the seat.
