上堂：「四月二十五，久晴忽爾雨，竺土大仙心，東西密相付。這箇猶是時節因緣，未是衲僧門下消息。且作麼生是衲僧門下消息？」良久云：「北山老大蟲，咬殺南山虎。」

Ascending the hall, [the Master said]: "The twenty-fifth of the fourth month: after prolonged clear skies, rain suddenly falls. The mind of the Great Immortal of India is intimately transmitted between East and West. This is still a matter of conditions and season, not yet the news of patch-robed monks. But what is the news of patch-robed monks?" After a long pause he said, "The big tiger of the North Mountain bites to death the tiger of the South Mountain."
