2.52

上堂：「何似生遼天鶻，萬重雲只一突。古人恁麼說話，大似眼病見空華。徑山即不然，何似生莫妄想，直饒透出古今，也是猢猻伎倆。」

Ascending the hall, [the Master said]: "What is it like? A falcon in the distant sky dashes through ten thousand layers of clouds in a single swoop. When the ancients spoke like this, it was very much like someone with eye disease seeing sky-flowers. Jingshan is not so: what is it like? Do not entertain false thoughts! Even if you penetrate past and present, it is still a monkey's trick."
