3.44

上堂：「色心不二，彼我無差。」驀拈拄杖云：「若喚這箇作拄杖子，揑目生華；若不喚作拄杖子，破家散宅。畢竟如何？」擲下云：「青山只解磨今古，流水何曾洗是非。」

Ascending the hall, [the Master said,] "Form and mind are not two; other and self are without difference." Suddenly picking up his staff, he said, "If you call this a staff, you squeeze your eyes and produce flowers. If you do not call it a staff, you break up the family and ruin the household. Ultimately, what is it?" Throwing it down, he said, "The blue mountains only know how to wear away past and present; when have flowing waters ever washed clean right and wrong?"
