上堂：「趙州東院西，密室爛如泥，竇八布衫穿，赤土畫簸箕。」喝一喝云：「是甚麼？簷頭雨滴滴，雞向五更啼。」

Ascending the hall: "To the west of Zhaozhou's East Hall, the secret room is rotten as mud. Dou Ba's cloth robe is worn through; red earth paints a dustpan." He gave a shout and said, "What is it? The rain at the eaves drips, drips; the cock crows toward the fifth watch."
