退院再歸上堂：「去是住時因，住是去時果，去住與果因，無可無不可。」喝一喝云：「這裏是甚麼所在，說去說住，說因說果，說可說不可？雖然如是，這裏却有箇好處。且道好在甚麼處？」良久云：「再理舊詞連韻唱，村歌社舞又重新。」

Upon retiring from the abbey and returning again, ascending the hall, [the Master] said: "Leaving is the cause for staying; staying is the fruit of leaving. Leaving and staying, fruit and cause: there is nothing permissible, nothing impermissible." Giving a shout, he said: "What place is this to speak of leaving and staying, to speak of cause and fruit, to speak of permissible and impermissible? Although it is like this, right here there is nevertheless a fine place. Tell me, wherein does the fine place lie?" After a long pause, he said: "Singing the old verse again, carrying on the rhyme; the village song and community dance are renewed once more."
