7.24

示眾，舉：「招慶問羅山：『有人問巖頭：「塵中如何辯主？」』頭云：『銅沙鑼裏滿盛油。』『意作麼生？』山召大師，慶應諾，山云：『獼猴入道場。』山却問明招：『或有人問爾，作麼生？』招云：『箭穿紅日影。』」師云：「還會麼？獼猴入道場，箭穿紅日影，兩箇老古錐，擔雪共填井。」喝一喝。

Instructing the assembly, he brought up the following: "Zhaoqing asked Luoshan, 'Someone asked Yantou, "In the midst of dust, how does one distinguish the master?" Yantou said, "A copper basin full to the brim with oil." What does this mean?' Luoshan called out, 'Great Master!' Zhaoqing responded. Luoshan said, 'A monkey entering an arena of practice.' Luoshan then asked Mingzhao, 'If someone asks you, how would you respond?' Mingzhao said, 'An arrow piercing the reflection of the red sun.'"
The Master said, "Do you understand? A monkey entering an arena of practice; an arrow piercing the reflection of the red sun. Two old veterans carrying snow together to fill up a well." He gave a shout.
