8.15

解夏示眾：「衲僧相見莫疑猜，布袋結頭今日開，露柱著衫南嶽去，燈籠脫帽上天台。」驀拈拄杖云：「只有雲門木上座，終年無去亦無來，有時獨靠古屏畔，覷破門前下馬臺。」擲下拄杖下座。

Concluding the summer retreat, he instructed the assembly: "When patch-robed monks meet, do not guess or doubt; / The knot of the cloth sack is opened today. / The exposed pillar puts on a robe and heads to Nanyue; / The lantern takes off its hat and ascends Tiantai." He suddenly held up his staff and said: "There is only Yunmen's Wooden Senior Monk, / Who all year round neither goes nor comes. / At times leaning alone beside the ancient screen, / Seeing through the horse-dismounting platform in front of the gate." He threw down his staff and stepped down from the seat.
