9.19

問僧：「馬大師道：『自從胡亂後，三十年不曾少鹽醬。』意作麼生？」僧云：「隨家豐儉。」師云：「好箇隨家豐儉，只是爾不會。」僧擬議，師便喝出。

He asked a monk, "Great Master Ma said: 'Ever since the rebellion, for thirty years I have never lacked salt or sauce.' What is the meaning of this?" The monk said, "According with the household's abundance or frugality." The Master said, "A fine 'according with the household's abundance or frugality,' but you simply do not understand." The monk hesitated, and the Master shouted him out.
