9.33

問僧：「五祖道趙州狗子無佛性，也勝猫兒十萬倍，如何？」僧云：「風行草偃。」師云：「爾也不亂說，却作麼生會？」僧無語，師云：「學語之流。」便打出。

He asked a monk, "Wuzu said, 'Zhaozhou's "a dog has no buddha-nature" is still a hundred thousand times superior to a cat.' What about it?" The monk said, "When the wind blows, the grass bends." The Master said, "You are not speaking recklessly either; but how do you understand it?" The monk was speechless. The Master said, "One who merely parrots words!" and drove him out with blows.
