The Buddha is medicine for sentient beings; when sentient beings' illness is cured, the medicine is also of no use. If the illness departs but the medicine remains, and you can enter the realm of buddhas but cannot enter the realm of māras, that illness is equal to the uncured illness of sentient beings. When the illness is healed and the medicine removed, sweeping away both buddhas and māras, only then will you have a small measure of accord with this great matter.
