In studying worldly matters, if you do not apply your mind thoroughly, the study will not succeed. In studying the supramundane Dharma, there is nowhere for you to apply your mind. The moment you intend to apply your mind to deduce and search, you are separated by thousands and tens of thousands of miles, having no connection at all. Even though it is like this, where there is no place to apply the mind, no place to grope, and no place to exert effort, that is precisely the place to exert effort. Do not, seeing it stated thus, branch out further and say: 'Since there is no place to apply the mind, no place to grope, and no place to exert effort, how then should I proceed?' If you adopt this view, you are even further disconnected.
