This Way is without limits, and the defilements of the world are also without limits; it depends only on what one directs oneself toward in daily life. Therefore the Avataṃsaka Sūtra says: 'Toward all worlds, the mind is like empty space, without any attachment. Universally observing the true mark of all dharmas, one gives rise to great vows to extinguish the suffering of sentient beings, never wearying of or abandoning the aspirations of the Great Vehicle, extinguishing all views, and cultivating the equal conduct and vows of the bodhisattvas.' What is called 'equal conduct and vows' is also this unlimited mind, unimpeded and unobstructed wherever it is directed.
