On Mid-Autumn, ascending the hall, [the Master] said: "Humans have the mind to gaze at the moon; the moon has no mind to shine on humans. When having mind and having no mind merge into a single whole, only then can one attain wakefulness." He abruptly took up his staff, struck it once, and said: "This cannot fail to be wakeful!" Throwing it down, he said: "If you know that falling down is not another thing, only then will you trust that all crisscrossing movements are not dust."
