佛鑑平時參平實禪，自負不肯五祖，乃謂：「秖是硬移換人。」圓悟云：「不是這道理，有實處。爾看，我從前豈有恁麼說話來？」徐徐稍信，後來因舉：森羅及萬象，一法之所印，驀然便道：「祖師西來，直指人心見性成佛，于今諸方多是曲指人心說性成佛。」

Fojian usually practiced plain Chan and conceitedly would not submit to Wuzu, saying, "He only rigidly displaces people." Yuanwu said, "It is not that principle; there is real substance to it. Look, how could I have spoken like this previously?" Gradually he came to believe somewhat. Later, when citing, "All phenomena and myriad forms are sealed by the one Dharma," he suddenly blurted out: "When the ancestral master came from the west, he pointed directly to the human mind to see one's nature and become a buddha; nowadays everywhere they mostly point circuitously to the human mind, speaking of nature to become a buddha."
