圓悟在五祖時，祖云：「爾也儘好，只是有些病。」悟再三請問：「不知某有什麼病？」祖云：「只是禪忒多。」悟云：「本為參禪，因什麼却嫌人說禪？」祖云：「只似尋常說話時，多少好。」時有僧便問：「因甚嫌人說禪？」祖云：「惡情悰。」

When Yuanwu was with Wuzu, Wuzu said, "You are quite fine, but you have a bit of an illness." Yuanwu repeatedly asked, "I wonder what illness I have?" Wuzu said, "There is just too much Chan." Yuanwu said, "Originally it was for the sake of investigating Chan; why do you instead dislike people speaking of Chan?" Wuzu said, "How much better it would be if it were just like ordinary talk!" At that time a monk asked, "Why do you dislike people speaking of Chan?" Wuzu said, "It leaves a bad taste."
