錢弋郎中，訪真淨說話久，欲登溷，淨令行者引從西邊去，錢遽云：「既是東司，為什麼却向西去？」淨云：「多少人向東邊討？」師云：「噁，便是趙州問投子，不許夜行投明須到，亦不如此語好。」

Bureau Director Qian Yi visited Zhenjing and conversed for a long time. Wanting to go to the privy, Jing had a postulant lead him off toward the west. Qian promptly said, "Since it is the 'Eastern Department' [the privy], why go toward the west?" Jing said, "How many people seek it toward the east?" The Master [Dahui] said, "Aha! Even Zhaozhou asking Touzi, 'Night travel is not permitted; you must arrive by daybreak,' is not as good as this phrase."
