草堂與師邂逅於臨川，韓子蒼請師過私第，問曰：「清公如何？」師云：「向聞其拈龐居士問馬大師不與萬法為侶因緣。」清云：「魚龍蝦蟹向甚處著？若如此亦浪得其名。」子蒼持此語達草堂，堂曰：「公向他道：『譬如一人船行，一人陸行，二人俱至。』」師聞此語，乃曰：「草堂得也。」

Caotang met the Master by chance in Linchuan. Han Zicang invited the Master to his private residence and asked, "How is the Venerable Qing?" The Master said, "Formerly, I heard of his bringing up the case of Layman Pang asking Grand Master Ma about not keeping company with the ten thousand dharmas. Qing said, 'Where are fish, dragons, shrimp, and crabs to be placed?' If it is like this, his reputation is also unwarranted." Zicang conveyed this remark to Caotang. Caotang said, "Tell him: 'It is like one person traveling by boat and one person traveling by land; both arrive.'" When the Master heard this remark, he said, "Caotang has it!"
