上堂：「以楔出楔，翻成途轍；以心傳心，轉見病深。達磨不會當頭句，却向嵩山面壁九年，後代兒孫承虛接響，揚眉瞬目，行棒行喝，盡是黃葉止啼。烏巨到遮裏，直得上天無路、入地無門，咬定牙關且與諸人和泥合水。」卓拄杖一下云：「不是一番寒徹骨，爭得梅花撲鼻香。」下座。

Ascending the hall: "'Extracting a wedge with a wedge turns into a rut; transmitting mind with mind shows the sickness to be ever deeper.' Bodhidharma did not understand the primary phrase, but went to Mount Song and faced the wall for nine years. Later generations of descendants caught at shadows and echoed sounds, raising eyebrows, blinking eyes, wielding the stick, and giving shouts—all of it is yellow leaves to stop crying. When Wuju arrives here, he has neither way to heaven nor gate into the earth; clenching his teeth, he simply mixes with the mud and water alongside you all." Striking once with his staff, he said: "'Without undergoing a spell of bone-piercing cold, how could the plum blossoms send forth a nose-filling fragrance?'" He descended from the seat.
