The Master responded to conditions and guided people with grave and dignified deportment. By day, he sat upright with adjusted robes to set an example for the assembly's gaze; by night, he patrolled the hall and trimmed the lamps to alert the assembly to drowsiness. His pure conduct remained unaltered to the end of his life; his solid body did not decay even in death. His remaining teeth and hair mostly produced śarīras, which people considered extraordinary.
