師於乾道三年八月初一日，就本院受請，陞座云：「適來未鳴鼓已前喚作傑上座，而今陞座已後喚作烏巨長老。驟爾更其名、易其號，披毛戴角、拕犁拽把，向異類中頭出頭沒。既然業債難逃，只得歡喜忍受。恁麼見得徹去，新長老出世事畢；其或未然，傑上座今日失利。」敘謝不錄。

On the first day of the eighth month in the third year of Qiandao [1167 CE], the Master accepted the invitation at this monastery. Ascending the seat, he said: "Just now, before the drum was struck, I was called Senior Monk Jie; but now, after ascending the seat, I am called Elder Wuju. Suddenly changing his name and altering his appellation, putting on fur and wearing horns, dragging the plow and pulling the harrow, sticking his head up and diving down among different species. Since the karmic debt cannot be escaped, I can only joyfully endure it. If you see through it clearly like this, the new Elder's matter of appearing in the world is finished; if not yet so, Senior Monk Jie today has suffered a loss." The formal expressions of gratitude are not recorded.
