上堂：「月生一，萬像不能逃影質；月生二，東行不見西行利；月生三，無言童子口喃喃。背手拈起無星秤子秤須彌山，重一斤十二兩即不問，諸人且道觀世音菩薩為什麼頂戴彌陀？參。」

Ascending the hall: "On the first day of the new moon, the myriad forms cannot escape their shadow and substance. On the second day of the new moon, walking eastward one does not see the benefit of walking westward. On the third day of the new moon, the wordless youth mumbles away. Lifting with back turned a steelyard without markings to weigh Mount Sumeru—let alone weighing one catty and twelve ounces—tell me, everyone, why does Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva wear Amitābha atop her crown? Investigate!"
