復舉：「保壽開堂，三聖推出一僧，保壽便打。三聖云：『與麼為人，瞎却鎮州一城人眼去在。』保壽擲下拄杖歸方丈。」師云：「二尊宿美則美矣，若要扶臨濟正宗，每人各欠一頓棒在。且道那裏是他欠處？具擇法眼者試定當看！」

He also cited: "When Baoshou held the opening of the hall, Sansheng pushed forward a monk. Baoshou immediately struck him. Sansheng said, 'Acting for someone like this will blind the eyes of everyone in the whole city of Zhenzhou!' Baoshou threw down his staff and returned to the abbot's quarters." The Master said: "Splendid as the two venerable elders were, if they wanted to uphold the orthodox lineage of Linji, each of them still owed a round of the staff. Tell me, where was their debt? Let those endowed with the eye of dharma selection try to determine it!"
