復舉文殊三處度夏公案。師云：「迦葉當時性燥下得一椎。莫道文殊三處度夏，直饒黃面老子別有神通，也須腦門著地。」

He also cited the gong'an of Mañjuśrī spending the summer retreat in three places. The Master said: 'Kāśyapa was hot-tempered at the time and brought down a mallet. Do not say that Mañjuśrī spent the summer in three places; even if the yellow-faced old fellow had special spiritual powers, his forehead too would have to hit the ground.'
