謝維那上堂：「古佛只在椎頭，每日呼來喚去，非惟綱令清嚴，下下要分緇素，興化當年錯用心，月明豈在珊瑚樹。」

Ascending the hall to thank the karmadāna: "The ancient Buddha is merely at the tip of the mallet, called forth and sent away every day. Not only must the monastery regulations be pure and strict, but in every single action one must distinguish black from white. Xinghua in those years misapplied his mind—how could the bright moon be found in a coral tree?"
