上堂，舉：「五洩初參石頭，洩云：『一言相契即住，不契即去。』頭據坐，洩便行，頭云：『闍梨。』洩回首，頭云：『從生至老只是者箇，回頭轉腦作甚麼？』洩於言下大悟。」師云：「稛載而往，垂橐而歸。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "When Wuxie first visited Shitou, Wuxie said, 'If a single word tallies, I will stay; if it does not tally, I will leave.' Shitou sat firmly. Wuxie thereupon walked away. Shitou called out, 'Ācārya!' Wuxie turned his head. Shitou said, 'From birth to old age it is just this; what are you turning your head and revolving your brain for?' At these words Wuxie was greatly enlightened."
The master said, "He went with bundled loads, and returned with drooping sacks."
