歸新方丈上堂：「松花荷葉，橡栗蹲鴟，驅虎豹而聚禪徒，坐荊棘而興寶所，此是前輩住持樣子。興聖薄緣，道不及古，二百日內，區區役役，勞我諸人成此丈室，今日遷歸，如何受用？」卓主丈一下：「有心排佛祖，無口笑諸方。」

Ascending the hall upon returning to the new abbot's quarters: 'Pine flowers and lotus leaves, acorns, chestnuts, and taro roots—driving off tigers and leopards to gather Chan followers, sitting on thorns and briars to raise up a jewel place. This is the model of former abbots. Xingsheng's conditions are meager; his Way does not equal the ancients. Within two hundred days, toil and moil have wearied you all to complete this ten-foot room. Today, returning to it, how do we enjoy it?' Striking the staff once: 'Intending to dismiss Buddhas and patriarchs, having no mouth to laugh at the various quarters.'
