上堂舉：「楊岐示眾：『薄福住楊岐，年來氣力衰，寒風凋敗葉，猶喜故人歸。囉囉哩，拈起死柴頭，且向無煙火。』」師云：「楊岐和尚慣得其便，爭奈美食不中飽人。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: 'Yangqi instructed the assembly: "With meager blessings I dwell at Yangqi; over the years my energy has waned. The cold wind withers fallen leaves; yet I rejoice when an old friend returns. Luololi! Picking up a dead stick of firewood, let us face the smokeless fire."' The Master said: 'Upādhyāya Yangqi was accustomed to having his way; how can one help that fine food does not suit a satiated person?'
