上堂：「報恩有三件，不如諸方，第一說到行不到，第二行到說不到，第三聻？」卓主丈：「人貧智短，馬瘦毛長。」

Ascending the hall: "Bao'en has three things in which it is inferior to the various quarters: first, what is spoken of cannot be practiced; second, what is practiced cannot be spoken of; third—what?" He struck with his staff: "When a person is poor, his wisdom is short; when a horse is lean, its hair is long."
