1.66

上堂，舉：「黃昏脫襪打睡，晨朝起來旋繫行纏，夜來風吹籬倒，知事普請，奴子劈篾縛起。」師云：「諸方盡謂舜老夫坐在無事甲裏，那知三冬枯木花，九夏寒巖雪。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "'At dusk I take off my socks and sleep; at dawn I rise and casually tie on my leggings. During the night, the wind blew the fence down; the administrator calls a general labor, and the servants split bamboo strips to bind it up.'" The Master said, "All quarters say that old man Shun sits within the armor of doing nothing; how could they know the flowers of a withered tree in the three winter months, or the snow on a cold cliff in the nine periods of summer?"
