1.89

開爐上堂，舉丹霞燒木佛，師云：「丹霞如蟲禦木，院主偶爾成文。報恩今日開爐，且無木佛可燒，只有些無明火，常在諸人面前。日短夜長，各自照顧。」

Ascending the hall for opening the hearth, he cited Danxia burning the wooden Buddha. The Master said: "Danxia was like an insect eating wood; the monastery director's [words] accidentally formed a pattern. Today Bao'en opens the hearth; for now there is no wooden Buddha to burn, only some fire of ignorance constantly in front of you all. The days are short and the nights are long—take care of yourselves, each and every one!"
