妙勝和尚至，上堂，僧問：「雪峯見僧來參，低頭歸庵，此意如何？」師云：「誰知席帽下，有此昔愁人。」僧云：「未審二林見僧作麼生接？」師云：「把手拽不入。」

Upādhyāya Miaosheng arrived. Ascending the hall, a monk asked, "Xuefeng, seeing a monk come to call, lowered his head and returned to his hermitage. What was the intention behind this?" The master said, "Who knew that beneath the woven mat hat was this person of past sorrow?" The monk said, "I wonder, when Erlin sees a monk, how does he receive him?" The master said, "Dragging him by the hand, he cannot pull him in."
