上堂，僧問：「大隋蓋龜時如何？」師云：「神照無此作。」僧云：「初秋夏末，衲子往來，牢記取者一轉語，舉似諸方。」師云：「苦哉。」

Ascending the hall, a monk asked: "How is it when Dasui covers the turtle?" The Master said: "Shenzhao has no such doing." The monk said: "At the beginning of autumn and the end of summer, patch-robed monks come and go; I will firmly remember this turning word and cite it to all quarters." The Master said: "How bitter!"
