2.76

乃舉：「羅山初參嵓頭便問：『起滅不停時如何？』頭云：『咄！是誰起滅。』山豁然大悟。」師云：「嵓頭雖則見孔著楔，累他羅山坐在起滅不停處。」

He then cited: "Luoshan, first studying with Yantou, asked: 'When arising and ceasing do not stop, what then?' Yantou said: 'Bah! Who is it that arises and ceases?' Luoshan was suddenly greatly enlightened." The master said, "Although Yantou drove a wedge where he saw an aperture, he burdened that Luoshan with sitting in the place where arising and ceasing do not stop."
