正旦上堂：「一年又一年，循環數不足，本分面上人，猶如隔羅縠。惟有南極老人，扣天鼓三下，望北闕而祝。何故？」卓主丈：「願我王萬福。」

Ascending the hall on New Year's Day: "Year after year, the cyclical count is never sufficient. A person on the ground of the original allotment is still separated as if by silk gauze. Only the Old Man of the South Pole strikes the heavenly drum three times and, gazing toward the Northern Palace, offers blessings. Why?"
