舉：「仰山侍溈山，忽聞鳥鳴，溈云：『伊說事却徑。』云：『不可向別人道。』溈云：『何故？』云：『為伊說太直。』溈云：『多少法門，寂子一時推下？』云：『推下事作麼生？』溈山敲禪床三下。」

He cited: "Yangshan was attending Guishan when he suddenly heard a bird cry. Guishan said: 'That speaks of the matter directly.' [Yangshan] said: 'You must not say that to anyone else.' Guishan said: 'Why?' He said: 'Because it speaks too straightforwardly.' Guishan said: 'How many Dharma-gates have you overturned at once, Jizi?' He said: 'What is the overturned matter like?' Guishan struck the meditation bed three times."
