佛生日上堂：「世尊初生下時，分手指天地道：『天上天下，惟我獨尊。』也是半夜拾得錫。後來雲門大師道：『我當時若見，一棒打殺，與狗子喫，貴圖天下太平。』獻佛不假香多。南山今日要與黃面老子出氣。」卓主丈云：「鴆羽落水魚鼈死。」

Ascending the hall on the Buddha's birthday: "When the World-Honoured One was first born, pointing separately to heaven and earth, he said: 'Above heaven and below heaven, I alone am supreme.' This too was like finding tin in the middle of the night. Later, Great Master Yunmen said: 'Had I seen him then, I would have struck him dead with one blow of a staff to feed the dogs, hoping for peace in the world.'
