謝執事上堂：「船上無散工，駕御有方所，打篙底打蒿，搖櫓底搖櫓，觸浪迎風天地寬，去來不礙東西浦。何也？」擊拂子云：「火伴得人。」

Ascending the hall in gratitude to the monastery officers: "On a boat there is no idle worker; steering has its proper station. Those handling poles handle poles; those working oars work oars. Confronting waves and braving the wind, heaven and earth are broad; coming and going, there is no obstruction between east and west shores. Why so?" Striking with his whisk, he said: "The companions are the right people."
