8.98

上堂：「鏗金戞玉，腐草化螢，坐井窺天，爛泥有刺。是則是，如人食蔗，中邊皆甜。因甚麼天傾西北，地陷東南？」

Ascending the hall: "Striking gold and sounding jade; rotting grass turning into fireflies; sitting in a well peering at the sky; in rotten mud there are thorns. True, true indeed—like someone eating sugarcane, both middle and edges are sweet. Why then does heaven tilt to the northwest and the earth sink to the southeast?"
